Elizabethan Headdress

Elizabethan Headdress

I made this headdress to go with my Queen Elizabeth I costume that I wore to The Greater Bay Area Costumer's Guild "Queen Elizabeth and the Pirate" dinner in San Francisco.

Visit my website to see how I did it as well as get the pattern and illustrated instructions to create your own!  My inspiration came from the HBO special with Helen Mirren (love her!) as Bess.

You can also see photos of the event here.

This is great! Thank you for sharing it. Someone else used your pattern and graciously pointed us all to your post on

I really appreciate that you took photos and then explained it all. Thanks again. It looks great on you.

I am trying to make the same head dress as you have made. I am at the stage where I have sewn the fabric on the front of the hood and crescent which has worked well so far, I am unsure if I should sew my decorations on now before I sew the backing fabric on. Can you please let me know what you did?

I am looking at getting the head dress done this weekend, so far its taken me about 1 1/2 hrs in total, pretty quick compared to my dress.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
